MEDIEVAL MONASTERY "HOLY TRINITY", TSAREVO

The monastery is situated near the sea on the bow of the southern peninsula of Tsarevo, where was situated the medieval fortress "Vasiliko" with an important port and shipyard.

History

Monastery "Holy Trinity" was built in the 11th century and was burnt down in the beginning of the 17th century. The old monastery walls are partly preserved. The church was restored in the mid-19th century and called "The Assumption". Archaeological survey is being conducted to reveal the monastery.

Status: In process of research and archaeological survey.
